Student Mariam Abdi, Class 7A, Moshono Campus
I like The School of St. Jude because it is a very beautiful school. It has good teachers and they teach us very well. We get good food. My favourite food is rice and beans and I also like the tea and bread. We are different from other schools because we are taught in English. We also have so many buses in different colours. I also like the football field.

Administration Positions

Sometimes it’s hot and dusty, other times it’s cold and damp, but always it’s busy – St Jude’s Administration office hums from around 8am to 5pm five and a half days a week with the activity of around 25 people organising everything from photocopies for teachers and payments for builders to a month’s supply of rice and beans and delivery of a sponsor’s letter.

And as the school grows so does the need for more hard working, dedicated, focused, efficient, patient, tolerant and practical people who can add their skills to the team.

You’ll need to be pretty grounded, use a lot of common sense, thrive on challenges, have good computer skills and an eye for detail, keep a sense of humour, focus on your task but also enjoy being part of a large team that has one reason for being here – educating the kids! It’s not about you … though we can all forget that sometimes when there’s no water or someone ate the last piece of cheese!

If you think you can offer top quality admin skills and cope with the anomalies of living and working for a year or more in a distant, developing country with an eclectic bunch of passionate people striving to build the best school in Tanzania, drop me a line at schoolofstjude@habari.co.tz. And if you can read that sentence without drawing breath, you’re fit enough for the job!
