I saw Gemma on “Australian Story” and was really inspired by the St. Judes story. I grew up in a small country town near Guyra (where Gemma grew up) and my father used to work with her father in a lawyers office in Kyogle (although I didn’t know this until recently). I was inspired that a girl from country NSW, who came from a similar background to me, took on such a massive challenge and literally changed the world for the better. How could anyone not be inspired by her courage, her love and her unstoppable, complete commitment to achieving her dream of educating children?
Peter and I sponsor Emmanuel Victor and Manti Omary. They are great kids, and we have been really impressed by their hard work and their commitment to learning. We love the updates from St Judes; the report cards and photos as well as and the letters from Manti and Emmanuel. We also love that we can send small gifts like school bags, t-shirts and art and craft material to them. We have previously sponsored children through World Vision and the experience was very “packaged” and impersonal. St Judes is personal and we love it.
